Visiting Scholars Program
The CLAMC Visiting Scholars Program is designed to promote collaboration between researchers in China and Latin America. It provides funding for mathematicians from Latin America to visit one of four research centers in Greater China:
- Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA)
- Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SIMIS)
- Hetao Institute of Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences (HIMIS)
- Institute of Mathematical Sciences at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (IMS / CUHK)
IMS / CUHK is usually paired with HIMIS.
Funding
What the grant covers

| Airfare | Up to $3,000 USD (economy class). |
| Accommodation, including housing and meals | Up to $1,300 USD. |
| BIMSA visitor exception | The $1,300 USD is not disbursed. Visitors instead receive a package: housing at the Yanqi Lake International Talent Center, weekday meals, and bus fare between the Talent Center, BIMSA, and Tsinghua University. Weekend meals are the visitor's responsibility. |

Who may apply
The program is open to graduate students, postdocs, and researchers in mathematics and related areas who reside or work in Latin America.
Selection Process
From recommendation to award
There are four application windows each year. The application process opens on the first day of March, June, September, and December, and closes on the last day of each respective month.
To apply for the grant, candidates must first contact at least one member of the Scientific Advisory Committee to request a written recommendation. Recommendations must be submitted by committee members by the 10th day of the application month.
Applicants who are endorsed by at least one committee member will then be contacted by the program administrator with an application form, which must be submitted by the 22nd day of the month.
Successful applicants will subsequently be contacted by the staff of the respective host center within one month.
